Environment

Proactive protection of lakes and forests – Ongoing monitoring and rapid interventions by leading professionals (Géos, Fyto, DroneXpert, GDG Environnement, and others).

Characterized and secured aquatic plant beds.

• Fyto has completed the ecological analysis of Lakes Masson, Dupuis, du Nord, and Grenier.

• No invasive exotic species detected, except for a small Eurasian watermilfoil at the Masson Lake dam, which was immediately removed.

• The community has contributed effectively to protecting our ecosystems.

Control of Eurasian watermilfoil.

• Mandate given to Fyto for targeted removal.

• Enhanced measures to maintain the health of our lakes.

• Our administration eradicated Eurasian watermilfoil (an invasive aquatic plant) from the boat launch area — a major environmental precedent.

Designated surf zones already established – To reduce sediment resuspension and shoreline erosion.

Strict enforcement of the 6 km/h speed limit – Within 60 m of the shore and 120 m on either side of bridges.

Moorings installed – Between Gibraltar Island and Île aux Fesses to allow safe and respectful stopping.

Noise and zone respect awareness campaign – Promoting courtesy, limiting gatherings near private docks, and preserving tranquility.

Active community engagement – Community walk to collect debris along main roads around the lakes.

Sharing local beauty – Free distribution of 3L potted plants (Annabelle hydrangeas, various daylilies, hostas) from our own flowerbeds.

Long-term commitment – To preserve biodiversity, support sustainable practices, and engage citizens in protecting healthy lakes and forests for future generations.
